Speaker Submission Guidelines
Speakers may submit up to two (2) presentation session entries (Any session type). Plan on spending up to 60 minutes to complete your submission.
SPECIFIC TOPIC AREAS FOR ASID 50TH ANNIVERSARY
ASID will celebrate its 50th Anniversary in 2025. We are looking for submissions that tie in with our theme - Honoring the Past, Shaping the Future. Topic areas include:
- Sustainability
- Health & Wellness
- Inclusivity / DEIB
- Interdisciplinary Design
- Future Technology
- Research & Application
- Design Business Solutions
- Leadership Skills & Mentoring
- New Products, Materials, & Methods
An "Other" Option is provided if your session falls into a different topic area not listed above. We are also looking for creative hands-on workshop sessions to add some different elements to our programming this year.
SPEAKER PROPOSAL SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Please follow the information and guidance on proposal submissions for speakers and presenters. Submit ONE session proposal per form. If you have an additional proposal, submit a second form.
- Number of Presenters
- For all sessions there is a maximum of two (2) speakers allowed. If there are multiple speakers, a primary contact name is required in addition to listing the names of all speakers/presenters intending to present.
- Speaker(s) Bios
- Include a brief biography and background information for each speaker. Please limit your bio to 150 words or less. If there are multiple speakers, list each one separately.
- ASID Membership Status
- Indicate if you are an ASID member, enter your member number, and check off your membership type (e.g. Fellow, Practitioner, Educator, Industry Partner). Speakers are not required to be ASID members.
- ASID National Committees
- Indicate if you will be presenting on behalf of an ASID National Committee, and enter the committee name in the box provided.
- Tell Us Why
- Why do you want to be a GATHER Speaker? Write a short statement demonstrating your passion and motivation about your subject matter that will inspire participants to attend your session.
- Session Category
- Choose from either Presentation / Workshop (60 to 90 minute session that takes a deep dive into a specific topic area), or Short Informal Session (up to 30 minute session that provides a brief topic overview with audience interaction).
- Session Title
- Provide a title (maximum of 10 words) that clearly represents the topic. Relevant creativity is also encouraged.
- Topic Area(s)
- Select up to three (3) topics areas from the list above that are related to your presentation or enter your topic area(s) in the designated "Other" space.
- Length of Session
- Choose from the session lengths provided – 30 minutes; 60 minutes; or 90 minutes.
- Session Description
- Provide a brief description of your session (150 words or less) that gives a clear understanding of what attendees can expect from your session.
- Session Presentation History
- Have you presented this session in person or online, such as at another conference or webinar? If yes, please include the dates and locations of where the session was presented.
- Also, please indicate if the presentation has been approved by IDCEC (International Design Continuing Education Council), AIA (American Institute of Architects), GBCI (Green Build Certification Initiative) or other organization.
- Learning Objectives
- List the learning objectives for the session. 60 and 90-minute sessions (presentations and workshops) must include at least four (4), and 30-minute informal sessions should have two (2) objectives.
- The objectives should answer the what/how of the session. Use action-based phrases that are succinct and direct, such as "Analyze", "Assess", "Identify", "Explain", or "Demonstrate". The learning objectives should complete the phrase - "By the end of this session, attendees will be able to......."

- Maximum 500 words
- Session Skill Level
- Indicate if the session focuses on Basic, Intermediate, or Advanced skills in the content.
- Topic Outline and Session Timing
- Provide a topic outline with rough estimated timing for each element given. Please include any planned learning activities. This can be a bullet-pointed list if desired. Start with the introduction, and list each planned topic, and the estimated number of minutes allotted for each one. The total number of minutes planned should equal the number of minutes selected in the Session Length section.
- Maximum 1,000 words
- Presentation Style Description
- Please provide a 1 to 2 sentence description of how you are going to present this session. Describe your delivery style. Be as detailed as possible with this description.
- Sample Presentation Style Descriptions: Brief introductory lecture with breakout group activities. Interactive session with audience participation through electronic polling. Creative session with instruction and supplies provided for attendees.
- Maximum 1,000 words
- List of References or Resources
- Provide a list of all references and resources used to develop and support the subject matter presented for each topic in the session outline. Research sources should be current within the last 5 to 10 years. MLA Style and Formatting is required. For guidance on proper MLA formatting, refer to this website for assistance: Purdue OWL
- Maximum 1,000 words
- Relevance of Session
- Provide a compelling explanation of why the content in this proposed presentation is important to interior designers.
- Maximum 500 words
NOTE: No submissions that attempt to include promotion or commercialism will be accepted. In addition, please refrain from submitting recycled presentations from other recent events (within the last 3 years presented at a similar conference).
